As seen in the images below, he shot in the shadow side of a building. ![]() I just wanted to maybe create a discord of discussion about how Avedon created the simplistic yet stunning aesthetic of his 'In The American West' portraits.Īs far as I can deduce, by erecting the white backdrop behind his subject, he then used a sole reflector to bounce light coming from the backdrop back toward the subject to give some illumination and a catchlight in the eyes. ![]()
